A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport - as onlooke
A Turkish Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport - as onlookers claim they saw 'smoke' and smelled 'burning' as the plane made its dramatic descent.
The plane's four hour journey from Istanbul to Manchester came to a dramatic end yesterday as the plane was forced to abort its first landing and had to declare an emergency following 'hydraulic issues.'
After aborting its first landing, the plane had to perform a 'go around' - a routine flight procedure to ensure a safe landing.
This meant flight TK 1995 had to remain in the air, flying as far east as Derbyshire, before it was safe to land.
On its second approach the plane appeared to land normally but as it taxied towards the terminal, surrounded by emergency vehicles, onlookers claim to have seen a puff of smoke and smelt burning.

The plane was met by fire engines once it finally landed at Manchester Airport
Avid plane-spotter Stephen Uden told the Manchester Evening News: 'The plane turned off the runway and then there was a puff of smoke. The plane then just stopped.
'There were fire engines front and back. They were trying to work out if it had hot brakes or hot wheels. After a short while they towed it back to the terminal. It wasn't able to do that under its own steam.'
Fellow plane enthusiasts Liam Smith claimed he could smell 'burning' as the plane touched down.
Once the plane landed it is understood the pilot turned off the engine and then it was decided that the aircraft would be towed towards the terminal. At 5.21pm passengers were finally able to disembark the plane nearly an hour after the plane made its precarious landing.
A spokesman for Manchester Airport told MailOnline that a 'minor hydraulics issues' caused the emergency landing. They also stressed that despite this being an emergency landing there was no danger to life.
MailOnline have approached Turkish Airlines for a comment.
